The demographic variables define a structure of the pilot community in
terms of features that have meaning to the pilots themselves, role in
the cockpit, level of experience, and so on. Another sort of
structure of the community can be derived from the patterns of
responses to the probes. To do this we created a pilotXpilot
correlation matrix, where each correlation is a function of the
pilots' responses to the 16 attitude probes. In effect, this maps the
547 pilots into a 16 dimensional space.
